The Hyderabad High Court on September 22, 2017 Friday stayed the announcement of results of Telangana State-State Eligibility Test (TS-SET) 2017. Qualifying in TS-SET is the basis for recruitment and promotion to teaching posts in colleges and universities in the State. These interim orders were passed in a writ petition filed by Elchala Dathatri, a research scholar. 

Telangana State - State Eligibility Test (TS-SET-2017) for the year 2017 will be conducted by Osmania University, Hyderabad for recruitment and promotions of Lecturers/Assistant Professors in Degree Colleges/Universities as per the University Grants Commission Regulations. He submitted to the court that notification was issued in February announcing the criteria to finalise the list of persons who will qualify in the TS-SET. The examination was conducted on June 11, 2017. The new criteria were announced in the last week of June 2017.

He contended that such change in criteria was wrong. The respondent authorities said that they changed the criteria after they had received a letter from the University Grants Commission (UGC) in May 2017.  The judge said that this amounted to “changing the rules of game after the game started” and declared that this was “impermissible.”

The TS State Eligibility Test (SET) to identify suitable candidates for lecturer posts in universities and government colleges would be conducted at 110 centres in Adilabad, Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Warangal on Sunday. A total of 68,381 aspirants have applied for the exam.

It would be held in 29 subjects, of which nine would be in bi-lingual and the rest in English. This year, candidates’ Aadhaar number has been seeded with the biometric details. P. Yadagiri Swamy, Member Secretary, TS-SET.  The highest number of applications have come from Telugu (8,515) followed by life sciences (8,458), chemical sciences (7,039), English (6,020) and commerce (5,927). 

TS SET 2017 results: Osmania University, Hyderabad, has released the preliminary answer key for the Telangana State Eligibility Test (TS SET) 2017 preliminaries. Candidates who have appeared for the exam can cross-check their answers using the key which is available for download on the official website http://www.telanganaset.org.

TSSET 2017 was conducted in the state on June 11 in three parts. Paper 1 contained 60 questions on teaching and research aptitude out of which 50 had to be answered in 1.5 hours. Paper 2 had 50 questions Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) on the candidates’ chosen subject which they had to answer is 1.5 hours and paper 3 contained 75 questions on the same subject which required in-depth answers, to complete which candidates had 2.5 hours.



TS SET Candidates will be required to score at least 40 per cent (35 per cent for reserved categories) in order to clear the paper. Number of Posts Available for assistant professors in the state and candidates who clear TS SET 2017 will be eligible for the posts.
