Maharashtra Board SSC Time Table 2017

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has put on hold announcement of timetables for SSC and HSC examinations to avoid an overlap. With elections to several local bodies due in December this year or February next year.

In a circular issued on Saturday, the board denied having declared the timetables. Some elections are due in December and February 2017. Since the election commission has not declared the dates, the board has not finalized the timetables MSBSHSE Officers. Officials said they will wait for instructions from the election commission before announcing the timetable.

Major changes in the SSC board exam, the state education department has allowed STD X students of selected schools managed by local self-governing bodies to drop the core Social Sciences subject and opt for a vocational education subject. This change will be applicable from the current academic session and will be implemented in 164 schools across the state.

This move has been in the works for the last few years as part of the central government's initiative to promote vocational education. The ball was set rolling in 2013-14 when vocational education was included in the central government's Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan (RMSA) project. After this, in 2015-16, vocational subjects were introduced for students up to STD VIII level, followed up by the decision now. Under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), the central government has given permission for vocational subjects to be introduced in STD IX and X, the education department's GR dated September 26 mentioned.

School students can choose vocational subjects over not only Social Science but also over second/third language. The government wants to give options to students on choosing their career path in future with vocational education subjects being introduced at the school level itself.   https://mahahsscboard.maharashtra.gov.in/msbshse.htm
