Professional course aspirants wrote the Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET) of the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) on May 10th, Sunday, before the Common Entrance Test (CET). The CET was postponed from April 29 and 30 to May 12 and 13 owing to a nationwide transport strike.
Most students who wrote the test felt the physics paper was lengthy, while a few said it was difficult to finish the maths paper on time. Some students from Karnataka who attempted the exam were unaware of the debate and uncertainty surrounding the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee) Act, 2006. Those from other States had different reasons for writing the exam.
As many as 1,08,486 candidates had registered to write the test in 148 exam centres. Of these, 57,277 were for medical/dental, 37,587 were engineering, and 13,622 were attending the test for both the streams.
A COMEDK release said engineering had 69 per cent attendance, while 74 per cent of those who registered for medical/dental courses took the test. The provisional answer keys are notified on the COMEDK website www.comedk.org and the final keys will be up on May 25. The ranks will be announced on June 8.
