The LBS Centre for Science and Technology has invited applications for the State Eligibility Test (SET 2015), which is a mandatory requirement for appointment as Higher Secondary School teachers, to be held on June 7 at the district headquarters in the State.
There will be two papers for the SET. Paper I is common for all candidates and consists of questions on general knowledge and those to assess aptitude in teaching. Paper II will be a test based on the subject of specialisation of the candidate at the postgraduate level. There shall be 30 subjects for paper II which includes Anthropology, Arabic, Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, English, Gandhian Studies, Geography, Geology, Hindi, History, Home Science, Islamic History, Journalism, Kannada, Malayalam, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, Social Work, Sociology, Statistics, Tamil, Urdu and Zoology.
Duration of the Test will be 120 minutes for each paper, covering 120 questions. The questions of both the papers will be objective multiple choice in nature. For each correct response the candidates will be awarded 1 mark in both the papers, except for Mathematics and Statistics, for which the marks awarded will be 1.5. No mark shall be deducted for incorrect answers.
The minimum requirements for a pass in the SET are that general category candidates should obtain 40 per cent marks in paper I and 40 per cent in paper II (total 48 per cent ) and for OBC non-creamy layer 35 per cent, 35 per cent (45per cent) and for SC/ST/PWD, 35 per cent, 35 per cent (40 per cent).
Masters degree holders in the subject concerned with not less than 50 per cent marks/equivalent grade and B.Ed. degree in any discipline are eligible to apply.
For Anthropology, Commerce, Gandhian Studies, Geology, Home Science, Journalism, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Statistics, candidates need not have B.Ed. degree for applying for SET. Detailed eligibility criteria are given in the prospectus. No age limit is prescribed for the test.
How to apply:
Candidates should obtain an application form and prospectus from the select head post offices on cash payment of Rs.750 (Rs.375 for SC/ST/VH&PH). Those residing outside Kerala should obtain application form and prospectus from the Director, LBS Centre for Science and technology, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram – 33 by sending a demand draft for Rs.800 (Rs.425 for SC/ST/VH&PH categories) drawn from any nationalised bank in favour of the Director, LBS Centre for science and technology payable at Thiruvananthapuram along with a self addressed envelop.
Each application form will have an application number which is necessary for online registration. There are two steps for submitting the application both of which are mandatory. First purchase the printed application form and prospectus from the head post offices and secondly submit online application. Both filled in application and printout of the application should be sent to the Director of LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram -33 as per instructions given in the prospectus, so as to reach on or before May 6.
