Elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of Intermediate examinations at 157 centres across Krishna district from  March 11. Officials have identified as many as six sensitive centres in the district, while surveillance cameras have been installed at a centre at Hanuman Junction.

Meanwhile, District Collector Babu A. warned of stern action against those indulging in irregularities. He said action would be taken against the Chief Superintendents of the respective centres if special squads booked students for malpractice.

Examinations will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and students should be present at the respective centres half-an-hour before the commencement of the examination. No one will be permitted to enter the halls after 15 minutes after the commencement of the examination.

While the Intermediate first year examinations will be held from March 11 to 30, second year examinations will be conducted from March 12 to 31. Students who are yet to get their hall tickets can approach the Regional Inspection Office or call 0866-2437156.

This year, as many as 64,590 students are appearing for the first year examinations, and 65,989 students will take the second year examinations in the district. Officials have been told to make elaborate arrangements for the convenience of students at all centres.

Intermediate examination will be held at more than 129 centres in East Godavari district, M. Rupas Kumar, Regional Inspecting Officer, Intermediate Education, Rajahmundry, said. He added that as many as 98,693 students would appear for the examination in the district including 43,394 for the first year and the balance 44,552 for the second year. He said 65 examination centres had been set up at private and unaided colleges, whereas there would be 64 centres at government junior colleges and social welfare and tribal welfare colleges in the district.

He said that five sitting squads and five flying squads had been set up to monitor the examinations. He added that CC cameras had been set up at sensitive centres.

Thanks to non-cooperation by lecturers, uncertainty looms large over the Intermediate examinations that begin on Wednesday in Kukkunuru and Yelerupadu areas of the erstwhile Telangana region which was recently merged with West Godavari district.

More than 500 students from the two mandals are taking the examination this time. Lecturers at two junior colleges at the mandal headquarters of Kukkunur and Yelerupad are reportedly reluctant to discharge their duties as invigilators in view of their pro-Telangana sentiments.

As a result, the authorities are now planning to depute secondary grade school teachers as invigilators at the two centres by obtaining permission from the Department of School Education. Officials of the Intermediate Board of Education have identified the two centres as “sensitive”. The police department has been requested to post armed squads at the centres. Meanwhile, arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the examination at over 100 centres across the district.
