The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) will accept online applications for Eamcet-2015 (Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test) from February 28 to April 9.The test will be conducted on May 14.

According to the schedule released by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) on Friday, the entrance exam will be conducted at 12 centres. Officials are planning to have two more centres this year apart from the existing ones.“We are planning to have centres at Kodad in Nalgonda district and Kothapet in Khammam district as well,“ said T Papi Reddy, chairman of TSCHE.

Candidates must score 25 per cent marks in the Eamcet to qualify. However, there would be no minimum qualifying marks for candidates belonging to SCST.

The qualifying candidates would be assigned ranks by giving 75 per cent weightage to the marks secured in the test and 25 per cent to the marks secured in the intermediate board exams. “Twenty five per cent weightage to intermediate marks will be given irrespective of whether the candidate belongs to Andhra Pradesh Board or Telangana Board,“ said Shailaja Ramaiyar, vice-chancellor of JNTUH.

“About 1,80,000 students from Telangana and 70,000 from Andhra Pradesh are expected to take the exam this year,“ said NV Ramana Rao, convenor of Eamcet.“Even Andhra Pradesh candidates are eligible to be part of the 15 per cent seats that are reserved for students from other states.If they secure top scores, they are most welcome,“ he added.

The results for the entrance test will be out on May 28, informed Ramana Rao.
